Exploring Lightwave 3d: Version 4.0
Published in Paperback by New Era Press (01 December, 1994)
Average review score:

Ok - Good Introduction to Lightwave For beginnersI bought this book a couple of years ago... I have a few comments I'd like to make as this was my first LW book: POSITIVE: It covers LW well, and even gets into colours, lighting and Movie making. Its simple and to-the-point. Good for a beginner. Great colour-photo section! NEGATIVE: The overview of bones,IK and spline patching are somewhat confusing. The spline section in particular is clumsly written and put me right off! There are many grammatical mistakes, and pointers to non-existant diagrams and figures. Apparently there was supposed to be an updated reprint, though after a few couple of years now, I've never seen one! CONCLUSION: I'd say if you were **completely new** to LW (Well, 4.0 if you can still buy it!) then this book would be a nice companion to the manuals... If you already know LW, this is more a refresher. If you are buying the latest version (5.0/5.5) then I'd buy one of the newer books as 4.0 is now somewhat dated.
Great Overall and Comprehensive"What Does this button do Bk"Want comprehensive coverage on how to learn what each (almost) button in Lightwave 3D ver 4.0? This book is for you. Also describes Why you would want to use that function for. It's well written. Author is very knowledgeable and fun to follow. The font style is great and easy to read. The binding will last awhile (I use mine daily). The price is well worth the investment. You get what you pay for. This book is worth the price. You shouldn't get frustrated because the instructions are complete and concise but not terse and skimpy. I'm looking forward for the author to write more tutorials and sequels. Happy Ligthwav'n

A Real Tear JerkerYou will love this book to death! If you are even an adult older than 12 you will like it! I personally loved it! I can relate to the boy in this book very much. WE had so much in common. I laughed and cried so much throughout this book.
"A Great Book For Kids Who Like Tear Jerkers"Free Willy 2 is an awesome book for children from the ages 8-12. I read it as a 9 year old and absolutely loved it. I laughed and I cryed. The boy in this story related to me very much because we have many similarities. I know how he feels in this book and if you read it im sure you'll feel the same way. I highly recommend this book for you!

The Germ Patrol: All About Shots for Tots...... and Big Kids, Too!
Published in Paperback by Rx Humor (23 April, 1998)
Average review score:

YOU MUST GET THIS BOOK IF YOUR KIDS ARE AFRAID OF SHOTSOH WOW! my 5 1/2 year old step daughter spent the first 4 years of her life in her mom's household and when she came to us she was TERRIFIED of shots - her experiences with shots must have been pretty traumatic. i was desperate as her before-kindergarten shots are coming up and she started to almost hyperventilate when she found out. i searched online, found this book, read the review and ordered it right away. read it to her last night for the first time and i kid you not, at the end of the book she said "I WANT TO GET MY SHOT'S NOW - CAN WE DO IT THIS WEEK MOM?" i was in shock! this book puts the vaccination concept into creative pictures and presents it on a level a kid can understand, and is really convincing as to why a kid should WANT a shot. she SLEPT with the book last night, and tonite at bedtime wanted to read the book again! as we speak she is fast asleep HUGGING this book - WOW!
I found this book a great help for my kids.Forever my children have had a fear of going to get their shots, but after reading this book they weren't scared anymore. The character's in the story were friendly and they showed why children need vaccines. I would recommend this book to all parents that have trouble in getting their children to the doctor to recieve their vaccines.

Introduction to Physical Science
Published in Hardcover by Houghton Mifflin Co (January, 2000)
Average review score:

Physical ScienceThis is a interesting book. I am currently enrolled in this class. I am not doing so well in it. It is sort of complicated because the teacher teaches from another book. I would like the instructors to recieve some guidelines according to how the lessons are to be reviewed and the tests should be given from the book instead of tests from other universities with different books and notes.
An Excellent Survey, But Necessarily SuperficialThis wonderful little book presents a superficial (if you want string theory or statistical mechanics, look elsewhere) survey of an interesting selection of topics that should interest any curious student, even one considering a career in a "hard" science. It should present no great challenge to the sudent with a year or two of algebra; this is not to imply that the approach is mathematical - it isn't. However, some very basic math is necessary in any book of this kind. This kind of overview should also be useful for the high school or junior college student who wants to know something about the nuts-and-bolts of various careers in the physical sciences: physicist, geologist, chemist, physiologist/biophysicist, biochemist, molecular biologist, astronomer, etc. Even the non-scientist layperson wants to know how and why batteries work, the phases of the moon and tidal influences, and, for just one more example, why nuclear bombs go BOOM in such a big way. The graphs are simple, and clearly labeled, there are many illustrations and photographs, and the authors seem to have tried to avoid "Dick and Jane" demonstrations of principles. If you are curious about the functioning of our universe and the world around you - and want a pleasant introduction to some of the particulars of that world, you will be impressed with the successful treatment shown in this book. I highly recommend it.

Making Waves
Published in Mass Market Paperback by HarperTorch (November, 2002)
Average review score:

Not badThis was a pretty quick read, though the story drug a bit here and there. It's really about a woman scorned, learning from a friend how those in the "know" can conspire to cheat you in a divorce. A lot of unnecessary/undeveloped characters but the overall story is clever. The author needs to read a few more Sue Grafton mysteries, but she's not bad, either. I'd like to see this character tackle a few more mysteries: she's likable and vulnerable, with the right amount of sassiness.
First Time Writer's Book is a SparklerCatherine Todd's first book is a winner! This fast-paced thriller detailing the machinations of a high powered law firm and how it treats some of its clients is told with dead-on accuracy, and more than a trace of humor. The heroine's trials and tribulations as a soon-to-be-divorced wife of a senior partner in the firm intersperse perfectly with the storyline of the shady goings-on that she uncovers. And those of us who know San Diego will enjoy the skewering of the La Jolla "Elite." This is a great book to add to any TBR list!

Ripsnort
Published in Paperback by Soft Skull Pr (January, 1997)
Average review score:

East Village InsanityDowntrodden, dirty, nasty and intelligent stuff. Todd Colby smacks us all around with his words again.....and I'm loving every minute of it!
Out-of-control like bourbon from a gas pumpI'd be a poorer person without this book. Colby is not for everyone, but if you're a cowboy poet with hair on your knuckles or a McGreenwich Village squatter, read Ripsnort at a cafe with bourbon and gasoline.

Spider-Man: Revelations
Published in Paperback by Marvel Books (December, 1997)
Average review score:

The one-true Spider-Man RevealedHoward Mackie, Tom DeFalco, Todd Dezago and JM DeMatteis finally bring the clone saga to a close with "Revelations". Heartbreak, action, adventure, and the return of a Spider-foe long thought dead all leads to an explosive climax, and when the smoke clears. Only one Spider-Man will walk away from it alive. Read and find out who it is.
This book was fantastic. This book was wonderful to read. It finally ends the long and drug on clone saga between Ben Reilly and Peter Parker and once and for all the real Spider-man is decided. It's build up is amazing.

Spider-Man: The Cosmic Adventures
Published in Paperback by Marvel Books (March, 1993)
Average review score:

Small on plot, big on actionThe Trapster, Titania, Graviton, the Rhino, Magneto, the Incredible Hulk, the Shocker, the Brothers Grimm, Hydro-Man, the Super Soldier Eliminator, Goliath, Dragon Man....Spidey takes them all on single handed - and decks them - in this entertaining trade paperback. True, it's just a series of epic battles with little plot, but who cares when you get to see Spidey blasting Titania through a truck and punching the Hulk into orbit? This is action-packed, and when I say action packed, I MEAN action-packed. New York is almost completely demolished by the climax.
If that wasn't enough, this book also features Doctor Doom, the Puma, the Red Skull, the Wizard, Loki and more in an adventure which sees the wallcrawler pick up some astonishing new powers, and forfill his destiny by battling the enormous Tri-Sentinel to stop it killing millions. Alex Saviuk, Erik Larsen, Todd MacFarlane and personal favourite Sal Buscema supply the artwork. Light, episodic, non-stop Spidey action.
The best spiderman saga ever.In this amazing adventure we find our freindly neighboorhood spiderman facing his toughest challenge as doctor, doom kingpin, Loki, and the wizard team up and send a variety of supervillins at spiderman hoping to confuse his and attack his weaknsess. This tactic almost works but spiderman is zapped by a mysterios burst of energy that give his almost god like power. Spiderman always felt a stong responsibility for having his powers now he stuggles with having more power then he can handel. I strongly recommend thisnovel to anyone who likes spiderman or any superpowered hero.

Theory of Point Estimation
Published in Hardcover by CRC Press (27 June, 1991)
Average review score:

A High-Level TextbookThis is an important doctoral-level textbook in the statistics of point estimation, which leaves the topic of hypothesis testing for a companion book. Using the text is frustrating because of sketchy proofs and examples and the reader is often pointed to other texts for details.
classic text on estimationErich Lehmann wrote this classic text on point estimation as the companion to his earlier masterpiece on hypothesis testing. The book lived up to the standard set by the other text. This edition, now published by Springer-Verlag was revised with the help of George Casella who is also an excellent writer. Another great reference book that statisticians should have on their bookshelf.
I was looking for some simple easy chords or a way to play a chord that even a child could play, this book doesn't have them.
